Robert Machi - Dog Trainer & Behavioral Therapist
I am incredibly lucky…
I get to play with dogs for a living.
Hello, my name is Robert Machi and I have been a Bark Busters dog trainer since August, 2004. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, there were always dogs in my home. Over the years, there were two German Shepherds (both named Beauty), one shepherd mix named Baby and a Chihuahua named Pee Wee. Next door to me was my brother with his three dogs. A Husky named Prince, a Bijon named Louie and a Maltese named Angelo. Upstairs from them was my sister with her American Eskimo named Dino. When I met my wife, Pam, she had four dogs – three Boston Terriers named Winston, Rosie and Sadie and a 140 lb great dane named Murray. Murray passed away not long after we met but he is the reason that Pam & I met. Two Years later, we saved a Doberman Pinscher named Harry. Now they are affectionately known as Harry & The Bostons by our dog walkers.
So I have been very much in love with dogs my whole life but I never thought that I would make a career out of dog training. I was the 1989 Valedictorian of Lafayette H.S. and I have a B.B.A. in Accounting from Baruch College in NYC….not exactly the traditional stereotype of a dog trainer.
I am lucky enough to have been taught, in my opinion, the best method of dog training and canine communication in the world. It is based on how dogs view us, each other and the world around them and how they interact with all of those things. I teach owners how to effectively communicate with their dogs to improve behavioral problems.
My goal is that every dog that I meet never be in danger of losing their family.
Spotlight Feature Adoption of the Month...
Say hello to Prince Sae. He is coming up on his 3rd birthday this Summer. He is
a pure Pitbull (no mix). The owner has had him since he was a puppy (but he is pretty much still a puppy...goofy & sweet & very energetic). The owner is trying to find a new home for him due to her incredibly irradict job schedule and she is heartbroken. She is looking to find him a new home or someone to foster him until she can "get back on her feet." Along with him comes...Me. The owner has the Lifetime Support program which means I would train the new family that brings him into their home.

Mary Jo Tobin
MJ has been a close friend of mine since around October, 2004. I had just started as a Bark Busters trainer and she was holding her very first Love Wanted adoption event for shelter animals out of her real estate office in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I asked her if I could volunteer and our friendship began.
Since then, she has been my "go-to girl" when I need to find a home for an animal in need. She has organized about 45 adoption events since then. Her events are responsible for an amazing 1,637 adoptions to date and counting.
You will never find anyone more dedicated to helping save the lives of animals. This is a very public Thank You for all her hard work!
